About GCR Company
GCR Company designs and manufactures high-quality, rugged wood bundling equipment built for firewood producers who demand durability, reliability, and real performance. Our flagship machine, the WB-120 Automatic Wood Bundler, is engineered and built in Michigan using locally sourced and U.S.-made components whenever possible.
While the WB-120 is available as a standard model, customization is at the core of what we do. Because every machine is built in-house, we can tailor it to fit your operation—whether that means custom bundle sizes, optimized wrap speeds, rotation adjustments, or unique configurations. If you need it, we can engineer it.
How It Started
In 2014, rising propane costs pushed us to find a better way to heat our home. With 10 acres of land and plenty of downed timber, installing a wood boiler seemed like the perfect solution—until we ran out of wood.
We started sourcing firewood wherever we could, often loading heavy rounds by hand into the back of a pickup. Within months, the truck was taking a beating, and the savings we expected were quickly disappearing into fuel, repairs, and firewood costs.
Everything changed when a friend in the tree service industry offered access to wood from job sites. The challenge shifted from finding wood to moving it efficiently. To solve that, we purchased a dump trailer for him—creating a steady, reliable supply delivered right to our property.
From there, things grew quickly. What started with a homeowner-grade chainsaw and splitter evolved into a full operation—tractors, professional splitters, conveyors, high-performance saws, and eventually a kiln for drying firewood. As production scaled, so did demand, and before long, we weren’t just processing wood—we were selling it.
That’s when GCR Company was born.
Why We Built the WB-120
Firewood sales were strong—but seasonal. To create consistent, year-round revenue, bundling became essential. The problem? No machine on the market did exactly what we needed.
So we built our own.
In 2017, the first version of what would become the WB-120 was created. It wasn’t refined, and it didn’t even have a name yet—but it worked exactly as intended. That early success led us to build three more units to test the market. With no formal marketing, we listed them online—and they sold within weeks.
Today, GCR manufactures WB-120 bundlers in batches to meet growing demand, continually refining the design while staying true to its original purpose: simple, rugged, and built to perform in real-world conditions.
About the Founder
GCR Company is led by an engineer with over 25 years of experience in the automotive and machine tool industries. There’s a good chance that if you drive a car or truck, a machine he helped build played a role in making it.
Engineering, fabrication, and welding aren’t just skills—they’re lifelong passions. Outside of GCR, that passion shows up in the form of custom motorcycles, built entirely by hand.
GCR is a natural extension of that mindset: identify real-world problems, engineer practical solutions, and build equipment that’s tough, reliable, and made to work.
